Bandits pair headed to Blues' prospects camp

July 6, 2009

St. Louis Bandits defenseman Tyler Elbrecht and goaltender Keith Kinkaid will participate in the St. Louis Blues’ pre-orientation camp, which begins this week in St. Louis.

Recent Blues draft picks and free-agent signings will participate the camp, including some who have played in the NHL with the Blues.

An All-NAHL Team selection this past season, Elbrecht, from Edwardsville, Ill., totaled two goals and 11 assists in 41 regular-season games.  In the postseason, the Minnesota State-Mankato recruit scored a goal and an assist in 11 games for the Robertson Cup champions.

Kinkaid, the league’s Most Valuable Player and Goaltender of the Year, fashioned a 30-5-4 mark in the regular season to compliment a league-best goals-against average (1.78) and save percentage (.935).  The Union College-bound netminder from Farmingville, N.Y., went 10-2 in the postseason en route to being named the Robertson Cup Championship Tournament MVP.

Both Elbrecht and Kinkaid were not drafted into the NHL, and both 20-year-olds participated in January’s NAHL Top Prospects Tournament.

Kincaid also took part in the New York Rangers’ Prospects Development Camp, which took place last week at the MSG Training Center in New York.

According to the Bandits’ coaching staff, both players were scouted on multiple occasions by both NHL teams and others.
