Air Force takes aim at more NAHL talent

October 7, 2009

Frank Serratore knows a good thing when he sees it.

After watching 16 former NAHL players pilot the Air Force Academy to a conference championship and a trip to the NCAA tournament a season ago - the program’s third in three years - the Falcons head coach has already successfully recruited six current NAHL players, the most by any Division I program to date.

“The NAHL is filled with players who have the ability to compete at the highest levels of collegiate hockey, and our program at Air Force is proof of that,” said Serratore, whose team competes in the Atlantic Hockey Association.

The NAHL players already committed to Air Force are: Bismarck Bobcats forward Jason Fabian; Owatonna forward Ben Persian; Wenatchee Wild forward Mitch Torrel and defensemen Adam McKenzie and Alex McLean; and Wichita Falls Wildcats forward Aaron Quick.

For Air Force, highlighting this year’s crop of NAHL alumni is senior forward Jacques Lamoureux, a former Bobcat who was named a Hobey Baker Award finalist last season.

“I’d advise any player who possesses the will and desire of becoming a collegiate hockey prospect to utilize the NAHL as their springboard,” Serratore added.
