North, Central win on Day 1 at Top Prospects

The North Division and Central Division skated to wins on the first day of the Sherwood/NAHL Top Prospects Tournament on Monday at the Ice Cube in Ann Arbor, Mich.

In the early game, Nick Shkreli (Traverse City North Stars) put home a goal and assisted on RJ Kleiman’s (Motor City Metal Jackets) game-winner as the North Division bested the South, 3-2.  Scott Henegar (Marquette Rangers) tallied the other North goal, and goaltender Kevin Kissaw (Marquette Rangers) turned aside 22 shots.

Cory Thorson (Owatonna Express) rang up a goal and assisted on Dan Cecka’s (Owatonna Express) game-winner in the Central Division’s 4-3 triumph over the West in the late game.  Zach Vierling (Owatonna Express) chipped in two assists - one on Cecka’s goal - and Ryan Faragher (Bismarck Bobcats) made 37 saves between the pipes.

On Day 2 of Top Prospects on Tuesday, the North will face off against the West (4:30 p.m. EST) and the South will play the Central (7:30 p.m.).
