Peoria Mustangs forwards Austin Wisely (left) and Andrew Scofield (right) have been called up to the NAHL to play for Rio Grande Valley.
In what has already been a record-breaking year for player movement from the North American 3 Hockey League (NA3HL) to the North American Hockey League (NAHL), the NA3HL’s Peoria Mustangs have announced that two of their players have been called up to the NAHL.
Forwards Austin Wisely, 18, and Andrew Scofield, 19, have been called up to play for the Rio Grande Valley Killer Bees. The Killer Bees play in the NAHL’s South Division and currently sit in a tie for 6th place in the Division.
Wisely and Scofield are currently leading the Mustangs in points, 38 and 37 points respectively, and also lead the team in plus/minus rating with +18 and +17 respectively.
Wisely (5’10/200) was just named Player of the Week for the NA3HL Central Division. The native of Chillicothe, IL is in his fourth season playing for the Mustangs, having been selected for the team after his Bantam year. Wisely had 28 points in 45 games last season and was +9.
Scofield (5’10/175) is in his second season playing for the Mustangs where he lead the team in goals scored last season with 34 goals in 35 games and also recorded 55 points. The native of Northfield, MN, also lead the team last season in plus/minus with a +35 rating.
“Both Austin and Andrew are very deserving of this opportunity. They have both worked very hard this season and we wish them the best with the Rio Grande Valley Killer Bees,” said Mustangs Head Coach Tyler Rennette.
The Mustangs are currently in 4th place in the NA3HL’s Central Division, but just three points out of the top spot.
