Ice Dogs' Pustin decides on Alaska-Anchorage

February 2, 2010

The Fairbanks Ice Dogs have announced that forward Mark Pustin has committed to the University of Alaska-Anchorage (WCHA) for next season.

Pustin, a 20-year-old from Northridge, Calif., ranks third in NAHL scoring with 52 points on 21 goals (tied for third in the league) through 43 games.

“Mark is an extremely gifted forward,” said Ice Dogs head coach Josh Hauge.  “He has a game-changing level of skill, is a true goal-scorer and has developed into one of the most dynamic forwards in the NAHL."

Pustin is the fourth player from this year’s Ice Dogs team to commit to a Division I program, joining forwards Michael Juola (Brown University) and Jared Linnell (University of Alaska-Fairbanks) and goaltender Mike Taffe (University of Nebraska-Omaha).

“He’ll have a great chance to fill an important role at UAA next season,” Hauge said of Pustin.  “We’re very excited for him and his opportunity to play Division I hockey in one of the county’s elite conferences.”
