NA3EHL announces Easton Hockey Stars of the Week

The North American 3 Eastern Hockey League (NAHL) today announced the Offensive and Defensive Stars of the Week presented by Easton Hockey for the week ending February 22, 2015.  The Stars of the Week is a weekly feature during the 2014-15 regular season that honors the top performing players, both offensively and defensively.

 

Alex Benson of Westbrook, Maine had his best weekend of the season leading the Maine Wild to three wins this past week.  Benson, 21, has spent the entire season on defense, until Coach Tenney asked him to play forward this weekend.  Coach Tenney said, “his assist setting up the goal to tie the game at 1-1 on Friday of a critical 2-1 Win vs Cape Cod was the play of the game.” Benson was a steady presence in all three zones on Saturday in the Wild’s 5-4 Shootout Win vs Cape Cod.  Benson scored two goals and had 3 assist in Sunday’s 8-4 Win vs East Coast Minutemen.  He saw his point total for the season jump from 5 entering the weekend to 11 on the strength of Sunday’s performance.  The Wild are battling Cape Cod for the #3 Seed in the East.

 

Claes Endre of Stockholm, Sweden posted a pair of shutouts this week for the New Hampshire Fighting Spirit.  Wednesday afternoon, Endre won his 13th game of the year 3-0 vs Cape Cod.  Sunday afternoon was a nearly identical performance for Endre as the Fighting Spirit won 3-0 vs New England Stars.  He had 28 saves in each game.  Endre saw his league leading Goals Against Average drop to 1.68.  He is tied for 4th in Wins with 14.
