Wisconsin defenseman Holtan makes NCAA commitment
April 7, 2015
Will Holtan used his experience at the NA3HL Top Prospects Tournament and turned it into an NCAA commitment.
The Wisconsin Whalers of the NA3HL are pleased to announce that defenseman Will Holtan has committed to play NCAA Division III hockey at Nichols College. Nichols competes at the NCAA Division III level in the ECAC Northeast Conference.
Holtan, 20, just completed his first season of playing in the NA3HL for the Whalers. The native of Rochester, Minnesota played in 44 games during the 2014-15 regular season, recording 24 points (7 goals, 17 assists). Holtan (6’3/220) also had three goals in five playoff games.
Holtan’s best month of the season came in November when he recorded nine points in nine games played, which also included a five-game scoring streak.
Holtan was selected and played in the 2015 NA3HL Top Prospects Tournament for the Central Division team.
Prior to playing in the NA3HL, Holtan spent a season playing in both the SJHL and the MJHL in Canada.
Nichols College is coming off a tremendous season under head coach Kevin Swallow, which saw them win the ECAC Northeast regular season and post-season titles and advance to the NCAA Division III Tournament, where they were defeated by eventual Champion, Trinity.
