Breezy Point duo called up to the NAHL

January 27, 2016

Breezy Point forward Billy Nichol.

The Breezy Point North Stars of the NA3HL are pleased to announce that two players have been called up to the NAHL. Forward Billy Nichol and defenseman Andrew Heckaman have both been called up to the NAHL’s Kenai River Brown Bears in the Midwest Division.

Nichol, 18, is in his first season playing junior hockey in the NA3HL.  The native of Batavia, IL, has two points in 24 games played this season to go along with 84 penalty minutes. Nichol (6’3/200) played in the NAPHL last season for the West Michigan Hounds (now Meijer AAA) 18U team, recording five points in 22 games played.

“Billy is a tough, hardworking kid that likes to go into the hard areas.  With his strength and size this is a very good opportunity for him to play at the next level.  We wish Billy the best of luck in Alaska,” said Breezy Point head coach Josh Dallmann.

Heckaman, 18, is also in his first season playing for the North Stars in the NA3HL. In 32 games played with the North Stars this season, the native of Dickenson, ND, has seven points and is a +5.

“Andrew is a young hard working defenseman with a huge level of potential,” said North Stars head coach Josh Dallmann.  “He blocks shots, can contribute offensively, and is very smart.  With his size and skating ability he has a very good chance to play at the next level.”

Both players had played for current Kenai River head coach Jeff Worlton in Breezy Point before he took over the Brown Bears a few weeks ago.
