Wildcats win battle of 1st place teams on final day of Showcase

Jersey Shore 5 vs. Cape Cod 3 – In a battle of the two 1st place teams in the NA3EHL, Jersey Shore gutted out a close 5-3 win against Cape Cod, which snapped the Islanders 17-game winning streak. Each team kept the other at bay throughout the game, and John Rubin secured the win for Jersey Shore with a goal in the third period. Jersey Shore additionally got points from Jared Karas, who also finished with one goal and one assist. Others who scored for Jersey Shore included Christian Cooley, Bogdan Khvatov, and Tyler Goclan, who scored one goal each. Other players who recorded assists for Jersey Shore were Frederic Villeneuve, Travis Valvo, and Frederic Ampleman, who each chipped in one. Cape Cod was led by Mike Jessman, who grabbed one goal and two assists. Jessman scored on the power play 9:59 into the third period to make the score 3-2 Jersey Shore. Maxime Dordet picked up the assist. Cape Cod also had goals scored by Aaron Deady and Chuck Costello, who each put in one. Skylands 3 vs. Maine 2 - In a game where neither team could get a cushion, Skylands escaped with a 3-2 victory over Maine. Each team kept the other at bay throughout the game, and Cole Skelly secured the win for Skylands with a goal in the third period. Skylands was sparked by Skelly, who registered one goal. Skelly scored 19:16 into the third period to make the score 3-2 Skylands. Skylands additionally got points from Hunter Ledwith, who also tallied one goal and one assist. Cory Decosta also scored for Skylands. Maine kept Skylands' goalie busy throughout the game, and Ryan Bartholomew made 30 saves on 32 shots. Maine was helped by Ryan Sussman, who racked up one goal. Sussman scored 11:28 into the second period to make the score 1-1. Greg Terlov assisted on the tally. Maine also got points from Jordy Knoren, who also had one goal and one assist. New York 5 vs. Lockport 4 (OT) - New York's Daniel Backstrom scored 1:07 into overtime to beat Lockport, 5-4 (OT). Dominick Sacco had one goal and four assists to lead New York. Sacco scored 3:16 into the third period to make the score 4-3 New York. Jimmy Warrick provided the assist. New York additionally got points from Backstrom, who also tallied two goals and one assist and Warrick, who also registered two goals and one assist. In addition, New York received assists from Eric Hewitt, who had three. Lockport was helped by Christopher Gasiewicz, who had two goals and one assist. Gasiewicz scored the first of his two goals at 15:11 into the second period to make the score 3-2 New York. Erick Santiago picked up the assist. Syracuse 2 vs. New England 1 (OT) - Raymond Rowe gave Syracuse a 2-1 (OT) victory over New England when he scored 31 seconds into the extra period. Syracuse was led by goalie Kyle VanWagner, who finished with 34 saves while allowing one goal. Syracuse also got a goal from Nate Walker as well. In addition, Syracuse received assists from Rocco DeRollo, who had one. New England was led by Brandon Hamner, who scored the team's only goal. Hamner scored 8:10 into the first period to make the score 1-0 New England. Arya Saliany provided the assist. Devyn Levesque rejected 28 shots on goal for New England.
 
Roc City 8 vs. Northeast 1 - Matt Corey netted a hat trick to lead Roc City over Northeast, 8-1.
Corey got on the scoresheet 9:56 into the first period. He then added goals at 4:58 into the second and at 17:02 into the third. Roc City led 4-0 after the opening frame the first period and maintained a healthy margin after. Roc City was led by goalie Ian Stahl, who finished with 29 saves while allowing one goal.  Roc City additionally got points from Nicholas Cignarale, who also grabbed one goal and one assist and Sam Cammilleri, who also registered one goal and two assists. Others who scored for Roc City included Jared Tam-Grimshaw, Anthony DePetres, and Justin Allen, who each put in one. More assists for Roc City came via Zach Bucholz, who had three, Brandon Corey and Cory Della Stua, who each chipped in one, and Cameron Clark and Bryan Moscicki, who contributed two each.

L/A Fighting Spirit 9 vs. Wilkes-Barre 0 - A four-goal first period deficit cost Wilkes-Barre, which could not recover and fell to Lewiston/Auburn, 9-0. Lewiston/Auburn was led by Austin Davis, who registered one goal. Davis scored 1:13 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Lewiston/Auburn. Thomas Puetz picked up the assist. Lewiston/Auburn also got points from Puetz, who also tallied one goal and one assist, Dylan Vrees, who also finished with one goal and four assists to lead the team in points, and Brett Bittner, who also grabbed one goal and two assists. Lewiston/Auburn also had goals scored by Walker Hamilton, Casey Labonte, Daniel Heffernan, David Fish, and Mark Ferullo, who scored one goal each. Other players who recorded assists for Lewiston/Auburn were Linder Kenyon, Clay Janowiak, Kyle Secor, Laim McGrath, and Jordan Crowe, who contributed one each and Jon Paul Chauvin and Colby Siering, who each chipped in two.
