Express names Peters assistant coach
The Southern Minnesota Express announced today that Dan Peters has been hired as an assistant coach.
“We couldn’t be happier to have Dan join our coaching staff,” said Express coach-GM Matt Romaniski. “His experience as a player at all levels will be a tremendous asset to our players as they develop for the collegiate and professional ranks.”
Peters, from St. Paul, Minn., played two years of junior hockey with the Omaha Lancers of the USHL before embarking on successful collegiate career at Colorado College (WCHA).
In 136 career games with the Tigers from 1996-2000, Peters, a defenseman, totaled 19 goals and 57 assists for 76 points. He was named to the All-WCHA Second Team his junior season.
Professionally, Peters played three seasons with the American Hockey League’s Philadelphia Phantoms from 2000-03 before playing a year in Germany (Frankfurt Lions). He ended his playing career in 2005 with the ECHL’s Atlantic City Boardwalk Bullies.
“I’m grateful for this opportunity to join the Express,” said Peters. “This organization has done a lot of great things for its players over the years and I’m looking forward to being a part of it.”
