Cape Cod defenseman Moore makes NCAA commitment

March 30, 2016
The Cape Cod Islanders of the NA3HL (formerly the NA3EHL) are pleased to announce that defenseman Dan Moore has committed to play NCAA Division II hockey at Post Universityfor the fall of 2016.

Moore played in 42 games and scored 10 goals while adding 25 assists and lead the team with a +46 rating.

The 6'/185 lbs. defenseman and forward was a huge part of the Islanders successes both in the regular season and their post-season runs.  Moore was recruited as a forward but found himself right at home playing defense when the team ran into injury issues mid way through the season.  The multi-talented player made the move without hesitation.  He finished the regular season playing on the back end then was moved to center for the playoffs.  Once again, Moore proved his team first mentality.

When told he would be moved up front, his response was... "anything that helps the team win." Moore went on to lead the Islanders in scoring in the playoffs with 6 games played 3 goals 6 assists 9 points and was again among the team leaders at a +9.

Post University coach Pete Whitney had this to say about Moore, "Post University is excited to have a player of Dan Moore's abilities next season.  As a skilled, puck moving defenseman he will be vital in playing the up tempo style we like.  Dan's ability to join the rush will add offensive punch to our line up."

Islanders coach Jay Punsky stated, "We are very pleased to announce Dan's commitment to Post.  He is a hard working, coachable player who bought into our team first philosophy from day one.  It was because of that mentality and commitment to improve that we were easily able to recommend him to college coaches.  As his game progressed he started to receive interest from multiple schools, in the end Post was the best fit for Dan and his family," Punsky continued. "There is no doubt that Dan will add to Post's offense but it's his tenacity that will make his new teammates glad he's on their bench.  He's the very definition of the guy you hate to play against, but love to have on your team."

Dan Moore's commitment to Post University marks the 4th member of the 2015-16 Islanders to make an NCAA commitment this season. (Aaron Deady Franklin Pierce D2, Mike Jessman Post University D2, Eric Szeker St. Olaf College D3)
