Outlaws' Dziubinski to play for Poland

November 14, 2007

North Iowa Outlaws forward Forward Krystian Dziubinski will play for Poland in next month’s World Junior Championship.

Poland will skate in Group A of the Division I bracket in Bad Tolz, Germany, from December 9-15, along with Germany, Ukraine, Austria, Norway and Lithuania.

“We’re honored and proud as an organization to have Krystian play and represent our team in this event,” Outlaws coach Dave Boitz said. “I think he will play really well; he is versatile and can play in a big rink and on the small ice surface.  I’m sure he’ll do well.”

The 19-year-old Dziubinski, who played last season for the Alaska Avalanche, has five goals for 14 points after 15 games this year.  He is also a plus-8.

Topeka RoadRunners forward Dariusz Gruszka will also skate for Poland.

Last season, North Iowa defenseman Chris Giebe played in the World Junior Championship for Team Germany and scored a goal in the German’s upset Team USA in the opening game.

Dziubinski will miss seven NAHL games for the tournament, including contests against league-leading St. Louis and Southern Minnesota.

“It’ll be tough to miss a player like Krystian for some time,” Boitz said.  “It’s a great opportunity for him and a reason why we’re here: to promote players. We have plenty of talented players who will get a chance to step- up in his absence, so we should be fine.”
