Wild raises over $21K during 'Pink at the Rink' Weekend
The Wenatchee Wild is pleased to announced that it raised more than $21,000 for Wellness Place in Wenatchee during its second annual "Pink at the Rink" Weekend at the Town Toyota Center on Oct. 15-16.
Wellness Place is the cancer support arm of the North Central Washington Rural Health Foundation, which is funded through donations.
“So many of us have been impacted by cancer in one way or another,” said Bill Stewart, the Wild's president and managing partner. “Wellness Place is a valuable part of the Wenatchee Valley in our fight against cancer. The Wild is proud to support Wellness Place, and we look forward to our third annual Pink at the Rink Weekend next season.”
Wellness Place’s mission is to provide information and compassionate support to individuals and their families who are dealing with cancer. This is accomplished through support groups, fitness classes, education, travel and lodging assistance, etc. All of the money the Wild donated to Wellness Place will stay in the Wenatchee Valley and go toward programs for local cancer patients.
The Wild raised money for Wellness Place through a player jersey auction, game fundraising (50/50 raffle and Chuck-a-Puck), as well through Pink at the Rink T-shirts sales.
The Wild also had help from its Pink at the Rink Sponsors - Ag Supply Co., Safeway and Wenatchee Valley Medical Center. Ag Supply presented Wellness Place with a $3,000 check during Pink at the Rink Weekend, which was raised through donations at its stores. Safeway sold Pink at the Rink T-shirts at its two local locations, and its employees helped with the Wild’s 50/50 and Chuck-a-Puck fundraisers. T-shirts were also sold at Wenatchee Valley Medical Center, and 600 Wenatchee Valley Medical Center employees and their family members were on hand for Pink at the Rink Weekend.
