Wooster defenseman Barney gets call to the NAHL

The Wooster Oilers of the NA3HL are proud to announce that defenseman Cole Barney has been called up to the NAHL to play for the Odessa Jackalopes for the remainder of the 2016-17 season.

 

Barney, 19, is in his first season playing junior hockey. The native of Fort Wayne, Indiana, signed a tender with the Odessa Jackalopes earlier this season.

 

Barney (6'0/190) has played in 46 games for the Oilers in the NA3HL. He posted 12 goals and 21 assists for a total of 33 points in his rookie season for the Oilers. Barney was the second leading scorer for the Oilers this season.

 

Barney also recently played in the 2017 NA3HL Top Prospects Tournament for the Green team (East/Midwest Divisions) where he had two points three games played.

 

This is the third season in a row that an Oiler has been tendered in the NAHL and the second season in a row that an Oiler gets called up to the NAHL.

 

Prior to playing in the NAHL and NA3HL, Barney has played the past three seasons in the NAPHL for the Esmark Stars 18U and 16U teams from 2013-16.
