Cape Cod, Top Prospects forward Costello makes NCAA commitment
March 21, 2017
The Cape Cod Islanders of the NA3HL are pleased to announce that captain Chuck Costello has committed to play NCAA Division III hockey to Becker College. The Philadelphia, Pennsylvania native has been a standout for the Islanders for the past two seasons and has been an enormous part of Cape Cod’s playoff runs.
Costello, 20, finished the regular season playing 46 games, scoring 24 goals and adding 32 assists. He was a standout for Team Gold at the 2017 NA3HL Top Prospects Showcase in February. He registered 4 points in 3 games, three of those points came via a hat trick during the showcase.
“I am so happy to be continuing my hockey career while getting a great education at Becker,” Costello said “When I first came to Cape Cod my goal was to get a commitment to college, I can’t thank the organization and my teammates enough for all the support over the past two years.”
Costello (6'1/175) will be joining fellow Islander Aaron Deady at Becker College. The two have combined for some exciting plays in the past seasons and will be looking to continue their chemistry over the next four years.
“As an organization we couldn’t be happier for Chuck,” team president Dan Hodge said. “He is a great player, captain and teammate. We were lucky to be in a position to help him achieve his goal of playing NCAA hockey.”
Costello joins Deady and Anton Zemba as the third Islanders NCAA commitment of the 2016-17 season.
