Breezy Point defenseman Stotts make college commitment

March 23, 2017

Wyatt Stotts had four points in three games at the 2017 NA3HL Top Prospects Tournament.

The Breezy Point North Stars of the NA3HL are pleased to announce that defenseman Wyatt Stotts has committed to play college hockey at Indiana Tech.
Stotts, 20, just completed his final season of junior hockey with the North Stars. The 6’0/185 lbs. native of Stillwater, Minnesota recorded 16 points in 34 games played this season from the blueline.
“Wyatt has made it a goal of his for the last two years to earn a spot within a college program that is a perfect fit for him. We are excited to follow Wyatt’s progress at Indiana Tech for the next four years. Wyatt is a very skilled defenseman that plays all 200 feet and Indiana Tech is getting just that, along with a player that has a high level of character,” said North Stars head coach Jon Jonasson.
Stotts was selected to a played in the 2017 NA3HL Top Prospects Tournament for the White Team, where he had four points in three games. Indiana Tech was one of the many college programs in attendance at the event.
“I wouldn’t have gotten to where I am today without the constant support of my family, teammates and coaches at Breezy Point. I am excited to further my education and hockey career at Indiana Tech,” said Stotts.
Back in November, the ACHA announced that a division for its NAIA member institutions has been created and will begin competition next season. Six member institutions of the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) will form an NAIA division within the America Collegiate Hockey Association (ACHA), beginning the 2017-18 season, which includes Indiana Tech.
“Wyatt will bring poise on our blueline and be a tough player to play against. He makes a great first pass out the D-Zone and consistently finds offensive zone entry passes. We really like his work ethic and overall approach to the game. He will be a welcome addition,” remarked Indiana Tech head coach Frank DiCristofaro.
