Binghamton goalie Schmitt makes NCAA commitment

May 30, 2017
The Binghamton Junior Senators of the NA3HL are pleased to announce that goaltender Steven Schmitt has committed to play NCAA Division III hockey for Chatham University beginning in the 2017-18 season.

Schmitt, 21, just completed his second and final season playing in the NA3HL, which was his first in an Islanders uniform. The native of Hershey, Pennsylvania, appeared in 21 games during the regular season and posted an impressive 18-1-1 record.

Schmitt (6’1/190) also had four shutouts to go along with a 1.85 goals against average and a 93.6% save percentage during the 2016-17 season.

Schmitt spent last season playing in both the NA3HL for the Wooster Oilers and in the NA3EHL for the Cape Cod Islanders.

He is the sixth player from this year’s Binghamton team who has made a college commitment.
