Generals defenseman Hamel gets called up to the NAHL

November 30, 2017
The Northeast Generals of the NA3HL are pleased to announce that defenseman Matt Hamel was called up to play in the North American Hockey League (NAHL) for the NAHL’s Northeast Generals.

Hamel, 19, made his NAHL debut this past weekend in the Generals 5-4 win on Saturday over the New Jersey Titans.

The 6’1/190 lbs. native of Duxbury, Massachusetts, has appeared in 21 games this season with the NA3HL Generals and recorded 22 points, which is tops for all defensemen on the club.

Matt has been a standout from Day 1 on the NA3HL team.  He leads our defense in scoring with 22 points.  We were happy to reward him and call him up for Sunday’s great comeback win for the NAHL team in New Jersey. It is great to have a team in the same building to be able to fill needs in house,” said Generals GM Bryan Erikson.

Prior to playing in the NA3HL and NAHL this season, Hamel played two seasons at Cushing Academy.
