New England forward Gauvin makes NCAA commitment

March 21, 2018
The New England Stars of the NA3HL are pleased to announce that forward and captain Ryan Gauvin has committed to play NCAA Division III hockey for Framingham State University.

Gauvin, 20, is a 5’10/175 lbs native of Baldwinville, Massachusetts. He registered 12 goals and 26 assists for 38 points during the 2017-18 regular season for the Stars. He also has recorded five points in the Stars’ first two playoff games.

Gauvin has spent six years playing for the Stars junior organization, dating back to the 2012-13 season when the team was in the NSHL. He has spent four years with the Stars in the NA3HL/NA3EHL, totaling 167 games and 128 points.

“There aren’t many players as dependable in all situations as Ryan. 5 on 5, penalty kill and power play, he can play them all.  Ryan is great in the face-off dot and has been a tremendous leader for us. Framingham State is getting a reliable player with some offensive upside and a great teammate,” said Stars Head Coach Darryl Green.

Framingham State University is a NCAA Division III University that competes in the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC). Framingham State is located in the metro west part of Massachusetts in what is the largest town in in Mass and the hub of the metro west region.

“After being with the Stars and The Hockey Academy for a decade of my life, the organization has turned into the hockey family for me. Going into a new team and organization when you’re a small kid can seem foreign and be frightening, but for me it was never that way. Having Dan Fontas and Darryl Green serve as not only coaches, but as mentors as well, I have undoubtedly become wiser. I have developed stronger character, and learned what it takes to be a good person/player both on and off the ice. I’d also like to thank my parents for their unrelenting love and support for me and my love of the game without them none of this would be possible,” said Gauvin.
