St. Louis defenseman Hohl makes college commitment

April 13, 2018
The St. Louis Jr. Blues, proud members of the NA3HL, are pleased to announce that defenseman Matt Hohl has committed to play college hockey at the University of Arizona. The Wildcats play ACHA Division I hockey in the WCHL and are historically one of the top collegiate club programs in the nation.
A native of Fenton, Missouri, Hohl joined the Jr. Blues as a rookie this year and instantly added size and skill to the St. Louis blue-line corps. Playing in 37 regular-season games, the 6’3”, 175lb right-hander scored five goals, added 13 assists, and ended the year with a +31 rating. He was also tapped to play for the Orange team at the 2018 NA3HL Top Prospects, where he recorded one assist in three games, and played all seven playoff games for the Jr. Blues, finishing +7.
“Matt was a guy we were really looking forward to having on our team this year, and he did not disappoint us in any way,” said Jr. Blues head coach Chris Flaugher. “He was always a guy you could expect to put in the hard yards, play a solid game in both zones, and contribute in every facet of his game. U of A is getting a good player and great student-athlete.”
Wildcats head coach Chad Berman added that Hohl “moves the puck well, makes good decisions, and competes at a high level. He has all the tools to be a top-caliber defenseman in [the WCHL].”
Hohl is the third Jr. Blues player to commit to playing college hockey this year, joining forwards Jake Cox (Southern New Hampshire—NE10, NCAA DII) and Jack Hatton (St. Mary’s—MIAC, NCAA DIII).
