Texas defenseman Bombardir makes NCAA commitment
May 16, 2018
The Texas Brahmas of the NA3HL are pleased to announce defenseman Jaxon Bombardir has committed to play NCAA Division III hockey for the University of Wisconsin-River Falls for the 2018-19 season.
“We are very proud and excited for Jaxon to commit to UW-River Falls next season,” Head Coach Mike Hill said. “He is going to do great the under Coach Freeman and will make a difference for the Falcons next year.”
Bombardir had a strong rookie campaign in junior hockey after spending the last three seasons playing hockey for East Ridge High School in Woodbury, Minnesota. He finished second on the Brahmas in defensive scoring with 12 goals and 44 points and led the team with a plus-45 rating.
“Jaxon played a very important role for us on the back end,” Hill added. “His vision on the ice and his ability to make smart plays was one thing we are going to miss for next season. He put up good numbers as a blue liner and was one of our plus/minus leaders. That’s a pretty important stat because that says he was a huge impact for us offensively as a D-man.”
Posting 11 multi-point games, the 6-foot, 180-pound defenseman was a force in the South Division. He elevated his game from the start of the season to the Fraser Cup. Bombardir is strong on his skates, breaks out pucks well and can get shots through traffic.
He becomes the fourth Brahma on this year’s roster to commit to an NCAA program.
