Wisconsin goalie Hufford makes college commitment

The Wisconsin Whalers of the NA3HL are pleased to announce that goaltender Alex Hufford has committed to play ACHA Division I hockey for Western Michigan University.
Hufford, 20, has spent the last two seasons playing in the NA3HL for the Whalers. The 6’5/170 lbs. native of Portage, Michigan, appeared in 24 games during the 2017-18 regular season, posting an 8-10-1 record with a 4.58 goals against average and a .887 save percentage.
During the 2016-17 season, Hufford appeared in 13 games, posting a 6-5-1 record with a 4.12 GAA and a .891 save percentage.
Prior to playing in the NA3HL, Hufford spent three seasons playing high school hockey in Michigan for Portage Central High School.
“I am very happy for Alex, who will be playing in his some state for a very good ACHA Division I team. He has also been awarded a full academic scholarship. Alex worked very hard the past two seasons and it has paid off for him,” said Whalers head coach Tom McDermott.
