The Queen City Steam (2-0) and Chicago Hitmen (2-0) skated to wins on the second day of the three-day round-robin portion of the North American 3 Hockey League’s (NA3HL) Hurster Cup Finals in Toledo, Ohio.
In the first game of the day, the Steam downed the Quad City Jr. Flames (0-2), 5-2. Forward Alexander Dobrzeniecki connected for two goals and an assist in the win, and goaltender Matthew Leon turned aside 35 shots.
Forward John Mejia put home a goal and two assists and forwards Oleg Popov and Quentin Bicknase tallied two goals apiece for Chicago in its 6-3 triumph over the Peoria Mustangs. Hitmen netminder Nicholas Kohn steered aside 30 shots to pick up the win in goal.

At the Hurster Cup Finals, which will run from March 24-27, the four participating teams will play a three-game round robin from March 24-26 with the top two teams at the conclusion of the round robin (most points) advancing to the Hurster Cup championship game, which will be played on March 27.
The winner of the championship game will earn the league’s second berth to the USA Hockey Tier III Junior A National Tournament, which will take place from April 1-4 in Rochester, Minn.
The St. Louis Jr. Blues, the defending national champions, earned the NA3HL’s first berth to this year’s national tournament by virtue of their regular-season championship.
