April 17, 2020
The Granite City Lumberjacks, proud members of the NA3HL, are pleased to announce that defenseman Landon Johnson has committed to play NCAA Division III hockey for Gustavus Adolphus College located in St. Peter, MN. Gustavus Adolphus are members of the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) and Landon will represent them for the 2020-21 season.
Johnson, 20, played for the Lumberjacks in 39 career games, scoring 5 goals and 14 assists and was a +15 in the 2019-20 season with Granite City. The 5’11/185 lbs. native of Little Falls, Minnesota, also had stops in his junior hockey career with the Minnesota Wilderness of the NAHL, in addition to the Minnesota Penquins 18U and Minnesota Magicians 18U programs.
“The one word that comes to mind when people ask me about the Jacks is family. Everyone involved in the process from the coaches to the players to the fans treated me like part of their family,” stated Johnson. “I am beyond grateful for the year I was to have with the Jacks to grow as both a person and a player.”
Lumberjacks associate head coach DJ Vold stated, “Landon always set a good example for his teammates on and off the ice. He is a high character kid who is not only going to be successful with his hockey career but will do the same academically. We are happy for Landon and wish him the best of luck at Gustavus.”
