Rangers sign five to tenders

The 2008-09 NAHL season is already underway for the Marquette Rangers, as the team signed five tenders over the past couple of weeks to vie for positions on next year’s squad.
Three Detroit Honeybaked Midget AAA players were tendered, along with two from the Chicago Young Americans Midget AAA squad. Both teams are members of the Midwest Elite Hockey League.
The Rangers tenders include forwards Andrew Chovich (Honeybaked) and Doug Beck (Honeybaked), along with defensemen Brendan Bandyk (CYA), John Lamorgese (CYA) and Jeff Slusser (Honeybaked).
“All five of these guys have shown that they have the tools to compete at the next level,” said Rangers head coach Randy Enders. “We’re confident that each one of them has the ability to help our organization build on the successes we’ve enjoyed in our first two seasons in the NAHL.”
A tender is a contract, of sorts, a player signs announcing his intentions to play for that particular NAHL team and that NAHL team only. Once a player signs a tender with an NAHL team, his playing rights belong to that team within the NAHL and he may not be recruited by any other NAHL team.
Each team is granted eight (8) tenders - plus or minus any trades - which become active on Nov. 1. Tendered players are not eligible for the NAHL draft.
