Twin City Steel 3 – Quad City Jr. Flames 2 (OT)
Twin City posted their first 3HL league win with a 3-2 overtime victory over Quad City as David Madren was the hero with the overtime winner. Brandon Busse scored twice for the Steel in the win while Jake Nordenstrom and Jared Fielden had the goals for the Jr. Flames who fell to 1-1 on the season. Evan Weiss got the win in goal for Twin City, making 25 saves, while Collin LeMay suffered the loss making 14 saves.
Granite City Lumberjacks 4 – St. Louis Jr. Blues 1
Granite City controlled the game from start to finish jumping out to a quick 2-0 lead behind two goals from Peter Linblad. In the 2nd period it was more Lumberjacks as Trevor Ness scored both a shorthanded and a power play goal for a four-goal lead. Ryan Basgall managed to break the shutout bid of Matt Grove with just :12 seconds to go in the 2nd period. Granite City improved their record to 2-0-1, while the Jr. Blues fell to 2-2.
Minnesota Flying Aces 5 – Chicago Hitmen 3
Minnesota picked up their first 3HL win in team history with a 5-3 victory over Chicago. Minnesota got goals from five different goal scorers including: Stephen Langford, Paul Sorenson, Alex Lindenman, Tyler Pionk and Brett Jenkins. Chicago got two goals from Nick Gnagni and another from Jake Howie in the losing effort. Minnesota improved to 1-1, while the Hitmen fell to 2-2.
Peoria Mustangs 4 – North Iowa Bulls 1
Josh Wentz was the offensive star for Peoria, as he notched two goals and an assist in a 4-1 win. Michael Mikulan and Gage Van Order had the other two. After two 1st period goals from Peoria, North Iowa closed the score to within 2-1 with a goal from Kevin Mansolill, but it wouldn’t be enough as the Mustangs scored two goals in the 3rd period to improve their season record to a perfect 3-0, while North Iowa fell to 0-2.
