Two more Ice Dogs commit to D-I schools

February 7, 2008

The Fairbanks Ice Dogs have announced that forward Caleb Harrison has committed to Holy Cross (Atlantic Hockey) for next season, while forward Aaron Stonacek has committed to Bentley College (Atlantic Hockey).

Harrison, a 21-year-old from Fairbanks, has eight goals for 16 points after 33 games this season.  He is also a plus-12.

“I’ve always dreamed of playing college hockey,” said Harrison.  “Holy Cross is an outstanding academic school and an up-and-coming program.  I look forward to helping their program grow through the next four years.”

Harrison is thankful for his opportunity in Fairbanks.

“I grew up watching the Ice Dogs and being able to play for them in my final year of juniors is an opportunity I’ll never forget, he said.  “I’m very grateful to the organization for everything they’ve done.”

The 20-year-old Stonacek, an Overland Park, Kan., native, has 14 goals for 26 points in 37 games this year.

“I’m excited to have found a school that can challenge me both academically and athletically,” said Stonacek.

He also credits the Ice Dogs for his Division I opportunity.

“The coaching staff in Fairbanks has really pushed me and helped me develop,” said Stonacek.
