Sunday Wrap-Up: Rhinos, Icedogs complete weekend sweeps

El Paso Rhinos 7 @ Atlanta 4 – The Rhinos completed a three-game road sweep of the Capitals thanks to a 7-4 win on Sunday. Matthew Barnes and Caden Butler each had four-point games in the win. El Paso jumped out to a 3-0 lead on goals from Connor Thompson, Riley Hunt-Bahn and Wesley Rees. The Capitals responded with three straight goals in  the 2nd period to tie the game at 3-3 as Harrison Flaacke, Nick Mumford, and Frederic Sterling all scored. The Rhinos then rattled off four straight goals to put the game out of reach as Barnes, Butler, Payne Pent and Hunt-Bahn all scored. Sterling would add his second goal of the game for the Caps to complete the scoring. Peyton Brendel made 16 saves and Camden Pendleton made 14 saves in the combined win, while Brendan Smith made 61 saves in the loss.

Butte 2 @ Bozeman 5 – Liam Massie scored two goals and Liam Scott had 28 saves as the Icedogs capped off a weekend sweep of the Cobras with a 5-2 win. Bozeman opened the scoring just :22 seconds into the game as Shane Domanick scored. Butte answered later in the period with a goal from Jonah Gilbert to make it 1-1. Bozeman took a 3-1 lead in the 2nd period with goals from Massie and Ian Bowman. The Cobras made it 3-2 early in the 3rd period with a goal from Pavel Gerasimenko, but the Icedogs pulled away later in the game with goals from Massie and Nick Stevens.

New Jersey 4 @ Danbury 1 – In his first game as a Titan, Ryan Miller scored twice to lead New Jersey to a 4-1 win in Danbury. Miller opened the scoring in the 1st period less than four minutes into the game. Danbury answered with their lone goal from Reese Tamburo to make it 1-1. Jake Spangler would score to give the Titans their lead back before the end of the period. Miller and Roland Ponechal would add goals in the 2nd period to complete the scoring. Donavan Alfama made 26 saves in the win, while Liam McGibbon made 38 saves in the loss.

Bay State 2 @ Northeast 8 – Payton Felix and Sean Gorman each scored twice to lead the Generals to an 8-2 win, improving the Generals record to a perfect 6-0 record to start the season. The Generals jumped out to a 3-0 lead with 1st period goals from Caiden Hess, Braeden Kennedy, and Felix. The Bobcats got a pair of goals from Damon Warren and Troy Harwell in the 2nd period to cut the lead down to 3-2, but the Generals scored five unanswered goals from there to secure the win, including a goal late in the 2nd period from Gorman and more in the 3rd period from Gorman, Felix, Tommy Lubin, and Viktor Solokhin. Mason Joseph made 35 saves in the win, while Braeden Bovey and Cameron Schnopp shared the loss.
