Hat-tricks lead Toros, Ice Hawks, and Sharks to wins on Thursday

Oklahoma City defenseman Tyler Larsen had a hat-trick in an 11-2 win on Thursday.

Willmar 3 @ Mason City 6 – Carter Newpower had a hat-trick and an assist to lead the Toros to a 6-3 home win over the WarHawks. The Toros got off to a good start, taking a 2-0 lead in the 1st period with goals from Sota Isogai and Newpower. By the end of the 2nd period, the WarHawks had tied the game at 3-3 with goals from Nolan Grier, Anthony Foster, and Jordan Fjosne, while Newpower scored again for Mason City. The Toros blew the game open in the 3rd period with three goals, including a hat-trick from Newpower and others from Nik Howell and Dillon Schmidt. Erik Chaffe made 29 saves in the win, while Cooper Olson made 19 saves in the loss.

Long Beach 5 @ New Jersey 2 – Logan Plante had a hat-trick and Ryo Murakami made 26 saves to lead the Sharks to a 5-2 road win in New Jersey on Thursday. The Titans took a 1-0 lead thanks to a goal early in the 1st period from Alex Blaszak. The Sharks then rattled off three straight goals to take the lead for good, which included a goal from Dylan Harbour and two from Plante. The Titans made it a 3-2 contest early in the 3rd period as Jake Spangler scored, but goals later in the 3rd period from Plante and Christopher Barnard secured the win. Titans goalie Donovan Alfama made 40 saves in the loss.

Atlanta 2 @ Oklahoma City 11 – The Ice Hawks got a hat-trick from Tyler Larsen and a six-point game from Patrick Wyers in an 11-2 win over the Capitals. The Ice Hawks put the game out of reach early jumping out to a 6-0 lead early in the 2nd period. Larsen scored twice and other goals came from Wyers, Noah Henslee, Avery Pittman, and Samuel Miller. In the 3rd period, Wyers would add his second of the game and Larsen also completed his hat-trick to go along with more goals from Garrett Conner, Avery Pittman, and Aaron Best. The Capitals got goals from Harrison Flaacke and Anthony O’Neal in the losing effort. Andrew Owens made 11 saves in the win, while Paul Jarvis made 47 saves in the loss.
