Friday Finals: RoadRunners snap Ice Hawks streak

Peoria forward Ethan Chesney had four goals in an 11-3 win on Friday night.

Oklahoma City 2 @ TX RoadRunners 4: Tim Marsico scored his second goal of the night 11:42 into the 2nd period to give the RoadRunners their 3rd goal and secure their victory over Oklahoma City. All six goals were tallied in the middle period, opened by Marsico before the five minute mark. Jesper Olsson and Aaron Best kept the contest in reach, each scoring goals for the Ice Hawks. Jack Klunk and Tyler Love added the other half of goals for Texas, Klunk’s coming before intermission to put the RoadRunners up two. Hunter Hein secured the victory in net, making 41 saves. Nathan Hadley took the loss with 37 saves. 

Milwaukee 3 @ Peoria 11: Peoria’s offensive prowess helped push their win streak to four games in the victory Friday night against Milwaukee. Much of the Peoria offense can be contributed to Ethan Chesney, scoring four goals in the bout. Defenseman Jared Wisely also had a spectacular night in the offensive zone, scoring once and assisted on four Mustangs goals. Thomas Kayner, Jaycob Bland, and Tristan Trudel also had multiple points on the night. Milwaukee goals came twice from Matthew Ebersole and once from Connor O’Neal. Nahuel Veyan made 15 saves for Peoria in the win while Milwaukee goaltenders Austin Bartell and Spencer Northway combined for 41 saves. 

Austin 1 @ TX Brahmas 10: The Texas Brahmas took down Austin 10-1 in a dominant offensive display Friday night. Twelve skaters found the point sheet for Texas, led by a four point performance from defenseman Alec Secord. The game remained 3-1 in favor of the Brahmas after two periods but they couldn’t be stopped in the 3rd, scoring seven unanswered. Jeremiah Snyder found the net twice while Mason Mara, Benjamin Mondou, and Joey Carollo each contributed three points to the victors. Jason Owings was the lone goalscorer for the Ice Bats. Dolan Gilbert completed the victory with 10 saves, a quiet night in net. Brandon Shantz took the loss making 39 saves. 

Rochester 4 @ Wausau 2: Rochester found the net three consecutive times in just 4:49 late in the second period to help carry them past Wausau in a final score of 4-2. Kyle Bauer scored the lone goal in the 1st period, keeping the visitors ahead through 20 minutes. Pavel Bakhtin evened the scores for Wausau early in the 2nd but goals from Rochester’s Blake Arneson, Justin Wright, and Kyle Brown would be enough over the course of the 60 minutes. Wesley Conquet scored the remainder for the Cyclones. Zach Wiese kept out 21 shots for the Grizzlies as Zach Dosan was handed the loss with 39 saves. 

Willmar 4 @ Mason City 1: Cooper Olsen remained sturdy between the pipes for Willmar, only allowing one goal on 24 shots to provide the WarHawks a victory. Collin Kerchoff had a spectacular night offensively, scoring a hat trick and the opening goal of the contest. Shawn Ohlenschlager van Coller also potted his 2nd goal of the season and the eventual game winner for Willmar. Cal Levis was the lone goal scorer for Mason City, scoring 3:12 into the 2nd from Nathan Gilleshammer and Jordan Newpower. Mason City netminder Owen Carlson made 25 stops in the loss.

New Ulm 4 @ Minnesota 0 – Harrison Albrecht and Jack Laser each had a goal and two assists as the New Ulm Steel shutout the Minnesota Loons 4-0. Nolan Lacosse made 38 saves to get his first shutout of the season and fourth win of the year for the Steel. Parker Dorn potted a pair of goals for the Steel to give him four goals on the season. Matthew Ryynanen was busy for the Loons as he stopped 52 shots.

Sheridan 1 @ Helena 9 – Erik Gibboney registered a goal and three helpers to lead the Helena Bighorns to a 9-1 win over the Sheridan Hawks. Tylor Greene had two goals and an assist for Helena while Wyatt Barton, Nick Cofer, Adam Harvey, Andrew MacCallum, Logan Matheny and Liam Bland all found the back of the net in the win. Wyatt Noble registered the lone goal for Sheridan in the loss. Anthony Adleman stopped 18 shots while Patric Loeffler turned aside 88 opportunities for the Hawks.

Gillette 4 @ Bozeman 3 – The Gillette Wild survived a scare from the Bozeman Icedogs and kept their perfect season alive with a 4-3 come-from-behind win on Friday night. After falling behind 3-1 early in the second period, the Wild got goals from Ian Richards, Tristan Baker and Isaac Young in a span of 6 minutes and 15 seconds. Jack Orchard then secured the victory by stopping 36 of 39 for the Wild. Sky Solig also scored for Gillette in the win while Liam Massie, Nolan Conrad and Grayden Pond all scored for the Icedogs. Collin Soderholm was dealt the loss for Bozeman as he made 22 saves.

Badlands 4 @ Great Falls 2 – Kael Delzer scored twice and added an assist as the Badlands Sabres beat the Great Falls Americans 4-2. Maxim Currie was sensational in net as he stopped a season high 63 shots in the win, his seventh of the season. Zach Vockler netted a goal and two assists. Keagon Holloway also scored for the Sabres. Daniel Crutcher notched both goals for Great Falls while Zac Hattan made 40 saves in the loss.

Butte 6 @ Yellowstone 2 – Three points from Luke Schleusner helped propel the Butte Cobras to a 6-2 win over the Yellowstone Quake. Fabian via notched a pair of goals for the Cobras while Nick Bradshaw and Cade Wessman each tallied a goal and an assist. Robby Arver had a goal for Butte while Caleb Cross denied 58 Yellowstone shots. Keegan Ferguson and Jack Harris both registered a goal and an assist for the Quake. Cole Eastman stopped 45 shots in the loss for Yellowstone.
