Saturday Scores: Wild, Bighorns stay undefeated with sweeps

Helena forward Logan Matheny had four goals in a win on Saturday to keep the Bighorns unbeaten with a 21-0 record.

Gillette 9 @ Bozeman 1 – Declan Young lit the lamp four times as the Gillette Wild scored a convincing win over the Bozeman Icedogs. Isaac Young registered a goal and four assists while Caleb Sanborn logged five helpers on the night. Will Blake, Sky Solig, Brock Trboyevich and Saizha Noorwegian tickled the twine as well for the Wild. Ian Bowman grabbed the lone tally for Bozeman. Jake Turek made 22 saves in the win for Helena while Liam Scott and Collin Soderholm combined to make 31 saves for Bozeman.

Sheridan 0 @ Helena 15 – Samuel Feamster and Logan Matheny each tallied four goals in the Helena Bighorns big win over the Sheridan Hawks. Harlan Wojtusik and Corbin Skinner’s five point nights led the way for Helena. Wyatt Barton, Andrew Deskin, Tyler Bloom, Andrew MacCallum and Liam Bland all got on the scoresheet for the Bighorns with goals while Tylor Greene had five assists. Eric Buchholz got the shutout in net as he made 17 saves. Thomas Kuriscak and Patric Loeffler combined to make 90 stops for the Hawks.

Badlands 3 @ Great Falls 7 – A big third period lifted the Great Falls Americans to a 7-3 win over the Badlands Sabres. Hunter Maschke potted a pair of goals and added an assist while Micah Serino had a goal and two assists. Daniel Crutcher ended the evening with four helpers. Jackson Henningsgard, Jay Alford, AJ Benit and Joshua Seriino all scored in the win for Great Falls. Kael Delzer, Carter Johnson and Zach Vockler all grabbed goals for Badlands. Wyatt Olsonawski earned the win in the blue paint by stopping a remarkable 48 out of 51 shots while Maxim Currie made 36 saves of his own.

Butte 5 @ Yellowstone 2 – A strong first 20 minutes of play set the Butte Cobras up for success as they completed the sweep of the Quake with a 5-2 win on Saturday night. Cade Wessman, Luke Schleusner and David Hanny all scored in the first period to give Butte a comfortable lead after the first period. Hanny scored his second goal in the middle frame while Drysten Bailey scored his first goal in the closing seconds. Dale Pfannenstein won his third game of the year as he made 34 saves. Gabe Coppo and Brandon Kididis scored for Yellowstone in the loss while Cole Eastman and Luc Haggitt partnered up to make 38 saves.

Austin 0 @ TX Brahmas 3 - The Texas Brahmas stayed perfect as they blanked the Austin Ice Bats by a score of 3-0. Erik Vrkoc, Elijah Roofe and Michael Imala were the goal scorers for Texas while Anthony Russo turned aside all 15 shots fired in his direction. Sebastian Skarzenski played well for Austin as he made 32 saves in the blue paint.

Alexandria 1 @ Granite City 7: Cullan Daikawa had two goals and an assist as the Granite City Lumberjacks took care of the Alexandria Blizzard 7-1. Bjorn Jorgenson found the back of the net twice while Zak Kennett, Andrew Butler and Nick Mountain all lit the lamp in the win for the Lumberjacks. Quentin Sigurdson improved to 6-1 on the season by making 16 saves. Ryan Hadland had the only goal for Alexandria while Joey Greilich made 35 saves.

Milwaukee 6 @ Peoria 4 - Ben Cremers enjoyed a four point night as the Milwaukee Power defeated the Peoria Mustangs 6-4 on Saturday night. Outside of Cremers two goals and two assists, Mason Ausmus registered a goal and two helpers and Matthew Ebersole had two goals of his own. Nate Stone also chipped in a goal for the Power. Spencer Northway was sensational as he made 55 stops on 59 Peoria chances. Hubert Guzy and Ethan Chesney both had a goal and an assist while Christopher Kondiles and Brett Anderson also logged goals. Andrew Doran and Joe Ambroffi combined to make 16 saves.

Rochester 2 @ Wausau 3 (OT) - Zac Maupin’s goal at the 2:17 mark of overtime lifted the Wausau Cyclones to a 3-2 win over the Rochester Grizzlies, giving them their second loss of the year. Wesley Coquet and Luke Anderson scored in regulation for the Cyclones while Max Breon and Per Waage provided the offense for the Grizzlies. Mitch Miscevich put on a clinic, making 51 stops in the victory for Wausau. Zach Wiese made 33 saves in the loss for Rochester.

Mason City 7 @ Willmar 2 - Brendan Sloth tallied a goal and two assists as the Mason City Toros defeated the Willmar WarHawks 7-2. Cullen Hogan, Nathan Gilleshammer, Jack Campion and Carter Newpower each had a goal and an assist in the win for the Toros. Luke Robertson and Zach Giblin each contributed goals as well for Mason City. Erik Chaffe earned the win in between the pipes as he made 33 saves. Tyler Misialek scored both of the Willmar goals while Will Pinney and Cooper Olson teamed up to make 28 stops for the WarHawks.

Minnesota 3 @ New Ulm 4 – Lahoussine Salama’s goal with just under six minutes remaining proved to be the difference as the New Ulm Steel edged the Minnesota Loons 4-3. Connor Sauza and Gus Cantwell scored just 44 seconds apart to give New Ulm an early 2-0 lead but Fox Dodds and his first of the year cut the deficit in half. Ryler Schelle would get the Steel back up by two but goals from Xavier Brooks and Jordan Griffin quickly tied the contest at three. That set the stage for Salama’s power play goal that would be the eventual game winner. Nolan Lacosse got the win in goal as he made 24 saves. Matthew Ryynanen was dealt the loss as he stopped 35 shots for the Loons.
