El Paso jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the 1^st period thanks to goals from Caden Butler and Noah Easterson. Austin made it 2-1 with a goal from Lucas Helland. Before the period was over, Matthew Gross scored for El Paso to make it 3-1. The Rhinos increased the lead to 5-1 with 2^nd period goals from Easterson and Connor Thompson. Before the period was over Austin made it 5-2 with a goal from Colin March. In the 3^rd period, El Paso blew the game open with a goal from Dylan Thompson and then three from Hunt-Bahn.
