Kovalev leads Danbury to 6-2 win over Norwich
Norwich 2 @ Danbury 6 – Danbury forward Nikita Kovalev had two goals and two assists to lead his team to a 6-2 win on Thursday night over the Sea Captains.
Kovalev scored the opening two goals for the Jr. Hat Tricks, giving them a 2-0 lead early in the 2nd period. Norwich responded with a goal later in the 2nd period with a goal from Jack Kinahan to make it 2-1. Danbury then exploded for three goals in a 7-minute span to make it 5-1 as Seth Beagle, Dylan Walker, and Dominic Powilitas all lit the lamp. Before the period was out, the Sea Captains netted their second goal thanks to a power play strike from Brian Essing.
In the 3rd period, Danbury completed the scoring with a goal from Jason Deitsch.
Liam McGibbon made 23 saves in the win, while Andrew Yocum made 32 saves in the loss.
