Granite City goalie Sigurdson signs NAHL tender

May 17, 2022

The Granite City Lumberjacks of the NA3HL are pleased to announce that goaltender Quentin Sigurdson has signed a North American Hockey League (NAHL) tender agreement with the Maine Nordiques of the NAHL’s East Division.

Sigurdson, 18, played his first season of junior hockey in the NA3HL with the Lumberjacks. The 6’2/160 lbs. native of Sartell, MN, appeared in 19 regular season games, posting an amazing 18-1-0 record with a 1.48 goals against average and a .925 save percentage.

He also appeared in nine NA3HL Fraser Cup Playoff games, posting a 6-3-0- record, helping the Lumberjacks to a Fraser Cup Runner-Up finish.

For his efforts, Sigurdson was named as the West Division Rookie of the Year and was also named to the All-West Division Team in addition to the NA3HL All-Rookie 1st Team.

“Quentin is a kid with a rare work ethic. Every day he shows up to the rink with a mentality to get better. He got better as the season went on and made a big impact for us down the stretch. We are excited for this opportunity to play in the NAHL next season. He deserves it,” said Lumberjacks Associate Head Coach DJ Vold.

Sigurdson is the 14th Jack from the 2021-22 team to have some sort of advancement to the NAHL. He is the 8th Jack to sign a tender in the North American Hockey League.

A tender is a contract, of sorts, a player signs announcing his intentions to play for that particular NAHL team and that NAHL team only. Once a player signs a tender with an NAHL team, his playing rights belong to that team within the NAHL and he may not be recruited by any other NAHL team. Each team is granted ten (10) tenders, which include two (2) tenders exclusively used on players from the NA3HL - plus or minus any trades - which became active on November 1st. Tendered players are not eligible for the 2022 NAHL Draft.
