NAHL tenders stacking up for 3HL players

May 19, 2012

As the NAHL draft approaches, coaches have been busy signing 3HL players to NAHL tenders prior to the NAHL draft, which takes place on May 31st.  The NAHL has an exclusive 3HL tendering system in which they have to use on tender exclusively on a 3HL player.

To date, 24 3HL players have signed tenders to play in the NAHL next season.  NAHL clubs have until May 28th at midnight to continue to sign tenders.  Tenders have been signed all throughout the course of the season thanks to another exciting and competitive 3HL regular and post-season.

The 3HL’s list of high-exposure events throughout the season also has an impact.  Each team participated in two different Showcases and the 3HL’s Top Prospects event concluded a few weeks ago in Frisco, Texas.

The 3HL’s Silver Cup held in Geneva, Illinois, also drew a fair number of scouts as all #1 seeds from each division advance to play for the 3HL’s Championship title, ultimately won by the Granite City Lumberjacks.

The Flint Jr. Generals and North Iowa Bulls lead the way with four players from each team having signed NAHL tenders.  The St. Louis Jr. Blues, Granite City Lumberjacks, Pittsburgh Jr. Penguins and Metro Jets each have three players that have signed tenders.

Granite City forward Nicholas Turbitt is the most recent player to sign an NAHL tender, as he inked with the Bismarck Bobcats on May 14th.  There were also plenty of players represented at the 3HL’s Top Prospects Tournament who have signed NAHL tenders, including: North Iowa’s Matt Kroska (Coulee Region), St. Louis’ Daniel Rosse (Fresno), Metro’s Will Shier (Kalamazoo), Minnesota’s Paul Sorensen (Michigan), Quad City’s Corey Sikich (Odessa), Pittsburgh’s Bryan Hovanec (Texas) and Flint’s Ken Miloser (Wenatchee).

Hopefully, dozens of the current 3HL players that have been tendered and dozens more will make an impact on NAHL rosters in the future, but it is a good sign that they are getting their opportunity to make an impact at the next level.
