The Twin City Steel, proud members of the North American 3 Hockey League (NA3HL), are pleased to announce that forward Calvin Miska has signed an NAHL tender with the Wichita Falls Wildcats. The Wildcats play in the NAHL’s South Division.
Miska, 19, is originally from North Branch, Minnesota. The 6’1/190 lbs. forward played in 40 regular season games this past season for the Steel and recorded 25 points (9 goals, 16 assists).
This past weekend, Miska played on Team Minnesota at the 2013 NA3HL Top Prospects Tournament in Frisco, Texas. Following the event in which Minnesota finished with a 2-2 record, Miska signed his tender with the Wildcats, making him the second NA3HL player from the event to do so this week.
“I am proud of Cal. He is 100% focused on playing college hockey. His off Ice commitment to his development is off the charts. He is highly coachable and will do just fine in the NAHL playing for the Wildcats. This opportunity is well deserved and I am sure Cal will make the most of it. I wish him all the best,” said Steel head coach Aaron Koosman.
A tender is a contract, of sorts, a player signs announcing his intentions to play for that particular NAHL team and that NAHL team only. Once a player signs a tender with an NAHL team, his playing rights belong to that team within the NAHL and he may not be recruited by any other NAHL team. Each team is granted ten (10) tenders, which includes one tender exclusively used on players from the NA3HL - plus or minus any trades - which become active on Nov. 1. Tendered players are not eligible for the NAHL draft, which will be held on June 4, 2013.
