Kinkaid named GDI Goalie of the Month

March 5, 2009

The North American Hockey League announced today that St. Louis Bandits goaltender Keith Kinkaid has been named the GDI Goaltender of the Month for February.

In six appearances, Kinkaid, a 19-year-old from Farmingville, N.Y., forged a 5-1 record, including a 26-save shutout performance over the U.S. Under-18 Team on Feb. 21, to compliment a 1.00 goals-against average and a  .964 save percentage.

“Keith is giving us a chance to win every night,” said Bandits head coach Jeff Brown.  “We’re pleased with his development thus far and fully expect him to continue his play down the stretch.”

On the season, Kinkaid leads the league in almost every statistical category, including wins (27), shutouts (six), goals-against average (1.82) and save percentage (.933) in 37 appearances.

Kinkaid, who participated in January’s NAHL Top Prospects Tournament, has committed to Union College (ECAC) for next season.

“It’s been a good month for our team and our defenseman and forwards have been playing really well lately,” said Kinkaid.  “We’re playing good hockey at the right time of year and hopefully it carries right into the postseason.”
