Rangers' Jarboe headed to Wentworth

April 1, 2009

The Marquette Rangers have announced that goaltender Mike Jarboe has committed to Boston’s Wentworth Institute of Technology (ECAC Northeast) for next season.

The Grosse Pointe, Mich., native came to Marquette from the Wichita Falls Wildcats at the trade deadline in February.  He played in four games for Marquette and compiled a combined record of 10-13-5 on the season between the two clubs.

“This is the end of a long road for Mike,” said Rangers head coach Kenny Miller, who also coached Jarboe with the Alpena IceDiggers in 2006-07.  “Here’s a guy who had paid his dues and is ready to go on to the next level and contribute to their program.”

Jarboe made his rounds the NAHL before ending his junior career in Marquette, with previous stops with the Bozeman Icedogs, St. Louis Bandits, Alpena and Wichita Falls.

He is the sixth Rangers player from this year’s roster to make a college commitment to play hockey.

“Everyone in our organization is happy for Mike and his family, and we’re confident he’ll represent us and the league very well,” Miller added.
