Northeast goalie Driscoll makes NCAA DI commitment
The Northeast Generals of the NA3HL are pleased to announce that former goaltender John Driscoll has committed to play NCAA Division I hockey at Providence College in Hockey East.
Driscoll, 22, played two full seasons in the NA3HL for the Generals in 2018-19 and again in 2019-20.
During his rookie season in 2018-19, the 5’11/170 lbs. native of Milton, MA, posted a 14-6-1 record in 22 games played, which included a 2.64 goals against average, .915 save percentage, and five shutouts, which ranked tied for 3rd in the NA3HL that season.
During the 2019-20 campaign, Driscoll was even better, putting up a 12-2-0 record in 15 games played. He was among the NA3HL leaders in goals against average (2.29) and save percentage (.922) that season.
For his NA3HL career, Driscoll posted a record of 26-8-1 with a save percentage of .917 and a 2.50 goals against average. John spent the 2020-21 season as the 3rd goalie for the NAHL’s Generals and the 2021-22 season rehabbing from an injury.
“We are incredibly proud of John. An amazing kid who everyone just loves. Very good goalie that battled some injuries and has come out on the other side of it. John will be a great addition to the goalie room at Providence. He will earn everything he gets and never complain. We are so excited to watch John continue his journey down the street at Providence,” said NA3HL GM Bryan Erikson.
John is the 2nd goalie from the NA3HL Generals to go straight to Division 1. Raphael Gaughan plays at UNH and will battle John in the prestigious Hockey East Conference.
