Saturday Scores: Hawks keep pace in Frontier with road sweep

Patrick Toomey had a pair of game-winning goals this past weekend as Milwaukee swept Wausau.

Sheridan 7 @ Bozeman 4 - The Sheridan Hawks took a 7-4 win over the Bozeman Ice Dogs. Sheridan scored first with Teejay Torgrimson. Bozeman got on the board with Bodie Shepardson to even the game 1-1. The Hawks added back-to-back goals with Danny Shelden and Ryan McKenna. Bodie Shepardson took the lead back for the Hawks with his second of the game followed by Makahi Sparks making the score 4-2. In the second period, Makhai Sparks added his second of the game followed by Teejay Torgimson adding his second for a 6-2 lead. Bozeman got a late goal from Spencer Wilkinson for a 6-3 score. In the third Wayatt Noble scored for the Hawks making the score 7-3. Owen House added the final goal of the game for Bozeman and a final score of 7-3. 

Milwaukee 3 @ Wausau 1 - The Milwaukee Power defeated the Wausau Cyclones by a score of 3-1. After 20 minutes of play the score was tied at one with Hayden Shoemake scoring for the Cyclones and Joey Demiglio for the Power. Then Milwaukee controlled the play from there scoring two unanswered goals to get the 3-1 Victory with Patrick Toomey scoring at 16:38 of the 2nd period and Matthew Ebersole scoring at 15:12 of the 3rd period. Adam Prokop was the winner between the pipes for Milwaukee and Mitch Miscevich picked up the loss for Wausau.

Rochester 10 @ St. Louis 2: An early surge of offense for Rochester led them to a dominant 10-2 victory over the Jr. Blues. In the opening period, Lyncoln Bielenberg-Howarth scored a pair while Riley Dueber, Per Waage, and Zachary Laurila also tickled twine. Connor Westbrock scored the lone goal in the 2nd period to get St. Louis on the board. In the final frame, Ryan Berglund scored a pair for Rochester and Owen Van Tassel, Connor Stoffel, and Austin Meers also lit the lamp. Ryan Callahan scored the remaining goal for the Jr. Blues. Lucas Henderson was the victor between the pipes, keeping out 23 shots in the process. Jordan Behnen made 46 stops in the loss. 

Alexandria 4 @ Mason City 5 (SO): Marcus Fritel scored the lone goal in the shootout to give his squad the 5-4 over the Blizzard. The Blizzard held a 3-2 lead heading into the 1st intermission as Ryan Hadland scored and Cole Klinbeil scored a pair while Marcus Fritel and Andy Larsen buried for the Toros. In the middle frame, Maxwell Barrington buried for Mason City while Ryan Hadland tickled twine for the visitors. It didn’t take long for Mason City to even the scores in the 3rd as Cal Levis III scored just 57 seconds into the period. Connor Graham picked up the win making 44 saves while Kyle Abrahamson made 17 stops in the loss. 

Long Beach 3 @ New Jersey 0: The Sharks quieted the home crowd in Middletown, shutting them out thanks to a 29 save performance from netminder Noah McCrary. Zac Kretzschmer and Jeremy Henk each put pucks in the back of the net to give Long Beach a 2-0 lead through 20 minutes of play. Gabe Hopkins scores his 1st of the season 3:46 into the middle frame to increase the lead. A scoreless 3rd period led to a final score of 3-0. Antonio Vaccaro made 25 saves in net for the Titans. 

Louisiana 4 @ Mid Cities 3: Louisiana defenseman Hampus Ohlsson-Ornelius scored a pair of goals and added an assist to help lift the Drillers past Mid Cities 4-3 to complete the series sweep. Ohlsson-Ornelius scored the lone goal in the 1st period. Cole Kilcrece and Micah Madlonado buried more in the 2nd for Louisiana but Ilnur Madiarovv, Michael Kennedy, and Seth Cannady all lit the lamp to even the scores at 3-3 through 40 minutes of play. Ohlsson-Ornelius scored the eventual game winner with 4:55 remaining in regulation to secure the sweep. William Carney picked up the win making 27 saves while Aaron Palos kept out 59 shots for the Jr. Stars. 

New Ulm 3 @ Willmar 1: The Steel snapped their four-game losing streak with a 3-1 victory to split the weekend series against the WarHawks. New Ulm jumped out to a two goal lead through 20 minutes with goals from Zach Dalzell and Jack Laser. Dalzell doubled his goal count halfway through the middle period. Michael Sweetland got Willmar on the board and cut the deficit with a score 5 minutes later. The Steel, backed by Dixon Ehlers, were able to hold on and take the win on the road. Ehlers finished the night making 35 saves while Payton Mancuso made 29 saves for the WarHawks.

Minnesota 2 @ Granite City 6 - The Granite City Lumberjacks defeated the Minnesota Loons by a score of 6-2. The Lumberjacks were led by Coby Weber as he had a hat trick in the contest. Ryan Wallin picked up the win for Granite City stopping 18 of 20 shots, and Keaton French stopped 27 of 33 shots for Minnesota.

Peoria 6 @ Oregon 5 (OT) - The Peoria Mustangs defeated the Oregon Tradesmen by a score of 6-5 in overtime fashion. Ethan Chesney was the overtime hero for Peoria which came from a penalty shot to get the victory. Kason Yamada was the winning netminder for Period stopping 45 of 50 shots, and Tyler Kreft turned away 19 of 23 shots in the loss for Oregon.

TX RoadRunners 4 @ TX Brahmas 1 - The Texas Roadrunners defeated the Texas Brahmas by a score of 4-1. The Roadrunners were led by JT Brugaletta as he registered two points within the contest. Nash Wilson stood tall between the pipes stopping 26 of 27 shots to get the win, and Alexander Croy turned away 24 of 28 shots in the loss for the Bahamas.

Bay State 1 @ Norwich 6 - The Norwich Sea Captains defeated the Bay State Bobcats by a score of 6-1. The Sea Captains were led by Shane Mazur as he had 3 points in the contest registering 1 goal and 2 assists. Brendan Pellerito stopped 16 of 17 shots to get the win for Norwich and Nick Pettman turned away 28 of 34 shots in the loss for Bay State.

Butte 2 @ Badlands 4 - The Badlands Sabers took a 4-2 win over the Butte Cobras. The Sabers took a 2-0 lead in the first with Zach Vockler scoring twice. In the second, the Sabres added to the lead with Brady Ridnour. Butte got on the board with Cade Wessman for a 3-1 score. In the third, Caelin Chinery added to Buttes' score for a 3-2 score. With second left, Kael Campbell sealed the win with an empty net goal, 4-2. Brady Devries made 32 saves in the win.

Helena 1 @ Yellowstone 2 (SO) - The Yellowstone Quake took a shootout win over the Helena Bighorns, 2-1. Ben Carlson scored in the first period for a 1-0 Yellowstone lead. Late in the third, Harlan Wojusik evened the game, 1-1. In the shootout Benjamin Kluza scored to get the Quake a 2-1 win. Edvin Falkenstrom made 45 saves in the win, while Aidan Wright made 24 saves in the loss.

Gillette 5 @ Great Falls 1 - The Gillette Wild won 5-1 over the Great Falls Americans. In the final minute both teams scored for a 1-1 tie with Connor Wendell of Gillette and Matt Ramstad of Great Falls. In the second, Sky Solig got the Wild ahead 2-1. In the third the Wil added three goals for the win with Jace Johnson scoring twice and Johan Palmqvist for a 5-1 final. Dominic Hite earned the win in the pipes stopping 27 shots.
