Friday Finals: Brahmas and Generals punch ticket to Fraser Cup

Caiden Hess had two goals in a 6-1 win in Game 2 on Friday to help the Generals advance to the Fraser Cup.

South Division Finals, Game 2: New Mexico 1 @ TX Brahmas 3 (Texas wins series, 2-0) – The Brahmas got two goals from Zac Maupin in a 3-1 win in Game 2 of the South Finals, which completed a sweep of the Ice Wolves. After a scoreless 1st period, the Ice Wolves took a 1-0 lead in the 2nd period thanks to a goal from Spencer Lund. The Brahmas responded with Maupin’s first goal to make it 1-1. Late in the period, the Brahmas would take their first lead thanks to a goal from Ilnur Madiarov. The Brahmas secured the win thanks to an empty-net goal from Maupin. Brendan Forden made 17 saves in the win, while Krzysztof Jakubowski made 26 saves in the loss.

East Division Finals, Game 2: Northeast 6 @ Danbury 1 (Northeast wins series, 2-0) – Caiden Hess scored twice and D’Mar McCoy made 36 saves as the Generals punched their ticket to the Fraser Cup Championship thanks to a 6-1 win in Game 2 as they swept the East Division Finals against Danbury. The Generals jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the 1st period thanks to goals from Matthew Nuzzolilo, Henry Wilson, and Hess. Danbury made it 3-1 early in the 2nd period with their lone goal from Oleg Egorov, but it was all Generals after that as goals from Michael Locke, Gabe Coppo and Hess secured the 6-1 win. Ryan Maguire made 57 saves in the loss.

Central Division Finals, Game 1: Oregon 4 @ Rochester 1 (Oregon leads series, 1-0) – The Tradesmen got 25 saves from Tyler Fromolz as they grabbed home ice advantage in the series with a 4-1 win in Game 1 in Rochester. Oregon opened up a 2-0 lead in the 1st period with goals from Dayne Deanovich and Nathan Walker. Rochester pulled to within one goal thanks to a 2nd period goal from Luke Sawicky. The Tradesmen pulled away late in the 3rd period with goals from Cooper Routheau and Ben Parent. Grizzlies goalie Tate Cothern made 21 saves in the loss.

West Division Finals, Game 1: Alexandria 4 @ Granite City 2 (Alexandria leads series, 1-0)  – The Blizzard got two goals from Jack Whitmore and 32 saves from Konrad Kausch as they picked up a Game 1 road win in Granite City on Friday with a 4-2 win. The Lumberjacks scored first in the opening period on a goal from Lyncoln Bielenberg-Howarth. The Blizzard answered later in the 1st period on Whitmore’s first goal of the game. Alexandria then exploded for three goals in the 2nd period as Whitmore netted his second of the contest and others came from Jameson O’Flynn and Sean Kenny. Jacob McPartland had the other goal for the Lumberjacks in the loss. Granite City goalie Ryan Lehet made 30 saves in the loss.

Frontier Division Finals, Game 2: Gillette 0 @ Helena 5 (Series tied, 1-1) – The Bighorns evened the series at 1-1 and forced a third and decisive game thanks to 22 saves from Keaton French in a 5-0 shutout of the Wild in Game 2. Five different players scored for the Bighorns, which included three goals in the 1st period from Cade Holland, Tyler Alldredge, and Camden Cunningham. TJ Norris scored in the 2nd period to make it 4-0 and Tyler Bloom added a power play goal in the 3rd period to make it a 5-0 final. Jake Turek made 24 saves in the loss and Cole Wheaton made 40 saves in the loss.
