Granite City forward Weber makes NCAA commitment
The Granite City Lumberjacks of the NA3HL are pleased to announce that Top Prospects forward and NAPHL grad Coby Weber has committed to play NCAA Division III hockey for Gustavus Adolphus College.
Weber, 20, just completed his second and final season of junior hockey, which has been spent between in the NA3HL and NAHL. The 6’1/180 lbs. native of St. Louis, MO, appeared in 44 games during the 2022-23 regular season and recorded 28 points (18 goals, 10 assists).
During the Lumberjacks run to the Robertson Cup, Weber recorded four pojnts in eight Fraser Cup Playoff games.
Weber has played in 65 career games for the Jacks. He’s produced 44 points in his time in Granite City. He was 1 of 5 Jacks players to represent the organization at the 2023 NA3HL Top Prospects Tournament.
“We are truly excited for Coby and getting a chance to play at the NCAA Division III level. He’s a kid that wears his heart on his sleeve and won’t take no for an answer. He has the ability to score and plays a well-rounded game. We can’t wait to see what he can do at the D3 level,” said Co-Head Coach DJ Vold.
Weber also appeared in 17 career NAHL games during his career. He made his NAHL debut on November 23, 2019 with the Lone Star Brahmas. He also played with the Jamestown Rebels and Springfield Jr. Blues during the 2021-22 season.
Prior to playing junior hockey, Weber was a standout forward in the NAPHL for the CarShield AAA organization. He played in back-to-back NAPHL 18U All-Star Games during the 2019-20 and 2020-21 seasons. He was named to the All-NAPHL 18U Team High Performance Division during the 2019-20 season and recorded 53 points in 65 career NAPHL games.
