Owatonna's Bergman Commits To Nebraska Omaha
Owatonna Express goaltender Fredrik Bergman has committed to play for the Central Collegiate Hockey Association's (CCHA) University of Nebraska-Omaha Mavericks for the 2009-10 season.
The 6-foot-3, 170-pound Bergman appeared in 17 games with the Express last season, and posted a 9-6-2-1 record with a team-leading 2.56 goals against average, and a .916 save percentage. The Vienna, Virginia native also played in all nine Express playoff games, posting a 5-4 record with a 2.51 goals against average.
"Anytime one of our players has an opportunity to play at the Division I level, we couldn't
be happier," said Express Head Coach Pat Cullen. "It will be a wonderful chance for Freddy to play under a great coaching staff, with Dean Blais and Mike Hastings."
The Mavericks will be playing their final season of CCHA play this year before transferring to the Western Collegiate Hockey Association in 2010.
