NA3HL announces Divisional Stars of the Week presented by Bauer Hockey
The North American 3 Hockey League (NA3HL) today announced the Divisional Stars of the Week presented by Bauer Hockey for the week ending November 25, 2018. The divisional stars of the week are awards given each week of the regular season to the top-performing players in each of the eight divisions of the NA3HL as nominated by their head coaches.
Central Division Star of the Week: Chuck Bay, F, Milwaukee Power
Bay’s whopping now-22-game point streak featured 3-4—7 from the Duluth, MN native in three games last week, boosting him to the top spot among Power scorers and third in the NA3HL. With 2-1—3 on Wednesday, 1-2—3 on Friday (including the game-winning tally) and another assist on Saturday, Bay has recorded points in every game except one this season, boasting two or more points in 17 of those 22. His five game-winning goals are tied for the most in the NA3HL after his last clinching strike against Wausau on Saturday, and despite failing to find twine with the man-advantage last week, his nine power-play strikes are also tied atop the league ranks.
2nd Star: Ethan Dabbs, F, Milwaukee Power
Honorable Mention (alphabetical):
Coastal Division Star of the Week: Devun Schneider, G, Northeast Generals
Schneider saw action between the pipes just once last week, but made quite the impact with 50 saves on 52 shots in a 6-2 Northeast win over Cape Cod on Sunday. With the Generals ahead 4-2 entering the final 20 minutes, Schneider stood tall and withstood 17 shots in the final frame alone to help seal his team’s win. The native of Huntley, IL set several season-bests on Sunday with a .962 save percentage and 2.00 GAA, and his 50 saves were a new single-game high for Schneider this season. He also now boasts five straight victories dating back to Oct. 12.
2nd Star: Andrew McCormick, D, L/A Nordiques
Honorable Mention (alphabetical): Josh Dimond, D, Northeast Generals — Daniel Miller, G, L/A Nordiques
Frontier Division Star of the Week: Dominic Canic, F, Bozeman Icedogs
The Icedogs went 1-0-1 last week to stretch their point streak to four straight contests, with Canic leading the way in the form of a goal and seven assists in the two outings — effectively accounting for each of his team’s eight total goals in some fashion. The Zagreb, Croatia native’s strong showings garnered the most points last week among NA3HL forwards, and he has now recorded two or more helpers in four straight games. Canic assisted on all four Icedogs goals in Friday’s 4-0 win over Butte, before following that performance up with his first goal in eight games and three more assists to again feature in each of his team’s goals in a close 5-4 OT loss to Missoula.

Since being held pointless in two straight games on Nov. 10 and 11, Wotta has exploded for two or more points in each of five contests since then, totaling 7-5—12 in that span. Last week’s tripleheader with Atlanta saw his Drillers take two of three from the Capitals, with Wotta notching two goals on Saturday, two assists on Sunday and another two tallies to cap off the series on Monday. Only four other skaters boast more points than Wotta since Nov. 12, and his four goals last week were tied for the league-most in that span.

West Division Star of the Week: Sam Ayd, D, New Ulm Steel
The Steel won two of three games last week to reach hockey .500 and move to within four points of Alexandria in fourth place out west, thanks in large part to standout defenseman Sam Ayd. The blueliner featured in each game’s scoring, assisting on a goal in Wednesday’s win over Willmar, helping out on both Steel strikes in Friday’s loss and posting 1-2—3 in Saturday’s 4-3 win over Breezy Point. Ayd’s six-point showing ranked tied for second among NA3HL defensemen last week.
