St. Louis forward McGowan makes college commitment
The St. Louis Jr. Blues of the NA3HL are pleased to announce that forward Matthew McGowan has committed to play ACHA Division I hockey for Missouri State University.
“Matthew was a strong two-way forward for us. He played a 200-foot game, was excellent on the penalty kill, and was very good at winning faceoffs,” said former Jr. Blues GM and head coach Chris Flaugher. “Missouri State is getting a smart player who can contribute in several different ways to a hockey team.”
The 6’0/175 lbs. native of Imperial, MO, scored 17 goals and added 11 assists for 28 points in 34 regular season games during the 2020-21 season. Prior to his junior career, McGowan, 19, was a standout forward for the St. Louis Amateur AAA Blues program and Seckman High School.
McGowan will be joining teammate Joey Boccardi who recently committed to Missouri State, along with some former recent alumni of the Jr. Blues program, Mark Capkovic and Jacob Weithaupt.
