Shreveport defenseman Goukler makes NCAA DI commitment
The Shreveport Mudbugs of the North American Hockey League (NAHL) are pleased to announce that defenseman Davis Goukler has committed to play NCAA Division I hockey for the University of Alaska-Anchorage.
Goukler, 20, is in his third full season of playing junior hockey in the NAHL for the Mudbugs. The 6’1/195 lbs. native of Cumming, GA, has appeared in 22 thus far during the current 2021-22 season and recorded six points (1 goal, 5 assists).
Last season during the Mudbugs run to the Robertson Cup Championship, Goukler posted 19 points in 54 regular season games and two points in 10 playoff games.
“Davis has incrementally improved his game and physical strength since reporting to Shreveport. He defends with the best of them, skates well, has good vision, and has a great shot. He’s mentally strong and has a poise and confidence that is top notch. We are looking forward to seeing Davis perform at the next level in a Seawolves jersey,” said Mudbugs head coach Jason Campbell.
He made his NAHL debut with the Mudbugs on October 26, 2018, during the 2018-19 season while he was playing for the TPH Thunder 18U team.
Goukler made his junior hockey debut with the NA3HL’s Nashville Jr. Predators during the 2017-18 season.
Overall in 129 career NAHL regular season games, Goukler has record 34 points.
