Sunday Wrap-Up: Ice Bats, RoadRunners complete 3-game sweeps

RoadRunners forward Jack Herron had two goals and two assists in a 5-3 win on Sunday.

Austin 9 @ Mid Cities 3 – The Ice Bats already eclipsed last year’s win total thanks to a 9-3 win on Sunday which completed a three-game weekend sweep of the Stars. Jaylen Mendez was the big star for Austin in the win with three goals and three assists. After Mid Cities opened up a 2-0 lead in the 1st period with goals from Dakota Brandom and Riley Solenberg, it was all Ice Bats after that as they scored nine of the next 10 goals. Ben Allen scored in the 1st period to close to gap to 2-1. Austin then scored five goals in the 2nd period, including two goals from Maddox Hoff and other from Mendez, Pierro Salvator IV, and Andrew Lee. Austin added three more goals in the 3rd period, including two more from Mendez and another from Allen. Michael Kennedy had the other goal for Mid Cities. Bryson Frazee made 34 saves in the win, while Cole Eckert made 50 saves in the loss.

TX RoadRunners 5 @ Atlanta 3 – Jack Herron had two goals and two assists and Tyler Love had two goals and an assist as the RoadRunners completed a three-game weekend road sweep of the Capitals thanks to a 5-3 win on Sunday. After a scoreless 1st period, the Roadrunners jumped out to a 3-1 lead in the 2nd period as Herron, Love, and Eitan Geralnik all scored, while Nick Jameus scored for Atlanta. The Caps tied the game at 3-3 in the 3rd period with goals from Anthony O’Neil and Marcus Glenn, but goals from Herron and Love in the final minute gave Texas the win. Noah Wilson made 22 saves in the win, while Coleman Garnier made 34 saves in the loss.

Northeast 7 @ Long Beach 1 – The Generals got some revenge for Saturday’s loss as seven different players scored in a 7-1 win on Sunday. The Generals took a 3-0 lead in the 1st period with goals from Cody Lambert, Michael Locke, and Michael Arsenault. Caiden Hess and Matthew Nuzzolilo added 2nd period goals and Sean Gorman and Dalton Wille scored in the 3rd period. Zac Kretzschmer had the lone goal for the Sharks in the contest. D’Mar McCoy made 25 saves in the win, while Ryo Murakami made 23 saves in the loss.

New Jersey 4 @ Danbury 3 – Ryan Talorico had two goals and an assist to lead the Titans to a 4-3 win in Danbury. The Titans opened up a 3-0 lead as Payton Fobes, George Hinds, and Talorico all scored. Danbury made a game of things with goals from Lou Caulfield, Oleg Egorov, and Brody Trew, but a goal in the 3rd period from Talorico proved to be the difference. William Kelly made 26 saves in the win, while Gennaro Demaio made 29 saves in the loss.
