NA3HL announces Bauer Hockey Stars of the Week

The North American 3 Hockey League (NA3HL) today announced the Divisional Stars of the Week presented by Bauer Hockey for the week ending September 25, 2022. The Divisional Stars of the Week is an award given each week of the regular season to the top performing players in each of the five divisions of the NA3HL as nominated by their head coaches. There is no South Division Star this week as no games were played.
Central Division Star of the Week: Gabe Randel, Forward, Wausau Cyclones
Wausau Cyclone forward Gabe Randel recorded 5 assists in a two game weekend sweep over the St. Louis Jr. Blues. In Friday's 4-2 win, the Hortonville, WI native passed out two helpers in the second period. On Saturday’s 7-3 victory, the NA3HL rookie added an assist in each period. This season Randel has appeared in 4 games and has totalled 6 points (0-6-6).

East Division Star of the Week: Andrew Yocum, Goalie, Norwich Sea Captains
Sea Captains netminder Andrew Yocum picked up two wins over the weekend against the New Jersey Jr. Titans to start his season off 2-0 between the pipes. The St. Louis, MO native combined for a 1.00 GAA and a .950 SV% after turning away 38 of the 40 shots he faced in two games.

Frontier Division Star of the Week: Zack Slinger, Forward, Gillette Wild
Gillette Wild forward Zack Slinger had a strong showing in the two games he appeared in totalling 5 goals. In a weekend sweep over the Badlands Sabres, the Faribault, MN native netted a hat-trick in the Friday night win 6-1. In the second game of the series, Slinger found the back of the net in the first and second period. Slinger has played in 4 games this season and has totalled 9 points (5-4-9).

South Division Star of the Week: Jaylen Mendez, Forward, Austin Ice Bats
Jaylen Mendez had a big weekend as he tallied for 8 points in three games against the Mid-Cities Jr. Stars. After a quiet night on Friday, the Laredo, TX native got on the scoreboard on Saturday with a goal and assist in the Ice Bats 5-3 win. In Sunday’s 9-3 win, Mendez had a 6 point night, including a hat-trick and adding three assists. This season Mendez has played in 6 games and has a total of 8 points (4-4-8).

Defenseman Kyle Mortenson has earned the West Division Star of the Week for the second consecutive time after his two game performance with 5 points. The Wayzata, MN native added an assist in the Lumberjacks 5-3 win over Alexandria. On the following night, Mortenson had a hand in each of the 4 goals scored by the Lumberjacks win over Willmar, 4-2, with a goal and 3 assists. This season, Mortenson has played in 3 games where he has recorded 8 points (4-4-8) and currently leads the Lumberjacks in scoring.
