Sunday-Wrap Up: RoadRunners, Drillers complete sweeps

TX RoadRunners 5 @ El Paso 3 – The RoadRunners moved their record to 8-1 on the season and sit atop the South Division thanks to a 5-3 win on Sunday in El Paso, which capped a three-game weekend road sweep of the Rhinos. TJ Lipsky scored twice for Texas in the win. El Paso had leads of 2-0 and 3-1 thanks to goals from Carson Doyle, Jackson Price, and Miles Berg, while Logan Motz scored for the RoadRunners. Texas then rattled off four straight goals to win, which included two from Lipsky and others from Kristoffer Svensson and Derek Boutin. Nash Wilson made 25 saves in the win, while Phillip O’Neill made 21 saves in the loss.

Austin 2 @ Louisiana 3 (OT) – The Drillers capped off a three-game sweep of the Ice Bats and moved into 2nd place in the South thanks to a 3-2 overtime win on Sunday. The Drillers opened up the scoring with a goal from Micah Maldonado in the 2nd period. Austin tied the game at 1-1 later in the period as Jack Hanson scored. The Drillers regained their one-goal edge in the 3rd period as Cheeno Gryska scored, but Hanson again had an answer with his second goal of the game to make it 2-2. In overtime, Brody Neish netted the game-winner, which was also his first career NA3HL goal. John Moriarty made 24 saves in the win, while Collin Lemanski made 37 saves in the loss.

New Jersey 6 @ Bay State 4 – The Titans got two goals apiece from both Nick Trabb and Kurt Johnson in a 6-4 win on Sunday. The Bobcats had leads of 2-0 and 3-1, but could not hold on. William Jasmin scored twice for the Bobcats and Nate Mastrony and Brian Woak also scored. The Titans got two goals in the 2nd period from Ryan Talorico and Trabb, and then would score the final four goals of the game, all in the 3rd period, which included two from Johnson, another from Trabb and one from Antonio Vidal. Avery Rovira made 23 saves in the win, while Aiden McGraw made 37 saves in the loss.

Danbury 2 @ Northeast 8 – Matthew Nuzzolilo, McCarthy Reed, and Sean Gorman each scored twice as the General moved their record to 10-0-1 on the season with an 8-2 win over the Jr. Hat Tricks. Danbury had an early 2-1 lead thanks to two goals from Oleg Egorov, while Gorman scored for Northeast. The Generals then rattled off seven unanswered goals, including three in the 2nd period and four in the 3rd period. Michael Locke and Nolan Merulli had the other goals for the Generals. Generals goalie Luke Fundator made 16 saves in the win, while Ryan Maguire made 11 saves in the loss.
