Saturday Scores: Loons use overtime again to sweep

Ryan Talorico had a hat-trick in a 5-1 win on Saturday.

Minnesota 4 @ New Ulm 3 (OT): The Minnesota Loons took an overtime win against the New Ulm Steel, 4-3. After a tied first period, Willem Kerr got the Loons ahead 2-1. Lahoussine Salma evened the game again late in the period, 2-2. In the third period Garrett Burroughs took the lead back for the Loons, 3-2. Nicholas O’Brien evened the game again to force overtime, 3-3. In the extra frame, Carson Liebaert called game scoring the game winning overtime goal for a 4-3 final. 

New Jersey 5 @ Long Beach 1: The New Jersey Titans topped the Long Beach Sharks in a 5-1 final score. Ryan Talorico netted the only goal in the first period for a 1-0 Titans lead. In the second period, Talorico added his second of the night for a 2-0 score. In the third period, Gabe Hopinks scored the only goal for the Long Beach Sharks, for a 2-1 score. The Titans added three unanswered goals with Rayan Talorico adding a hat-trick, Nick Trabb and Giuseppe Bianco for a 5-1 game. 

El Paso 1 @ Louisiana 2 (SO): The Louisiana Drillers topped the El Paso Rhinos in a shootout final score of 2-1. Micha Maldoando netted the only goal of the first period of a 1-0 score. In the second, the Rhinos evened the game 1-1 with a goal from Mike Sobaski. The game went to a shootout where Daniel Cruthcher and Brody Neish scored to take the win, 2-1. 

St. Louis 3 @ Peoria 6: The Peoria Mustangs added two goals in all three periods to take a 6-3 win over the St. Louis Jr. Blues. In the first period the Mustangs and Jr. Blues stayed tied 2-2. In the second period, the Mustangs broke the tie with Joseph Racilio and Tristan Trudel for a 4-2 score. Connor Westbrock added a late goal for a 4-3 score. In the third the Mustangs added two goals Joseph Rancilio and Perry Lagatuz for a final of 6-3.

TX Brahmas 5 @ Atlanta 3: The Brahmas battled back after a tied first period to take a 5-3 win over the Atlanta Capitals. Both teams scored twice in the first period to tie up 2-2. In the third period, Nick Jameus added a goal for the Capitals, 3-2. The RoadRunners answered back with three goals as Benjamin Modndou, Kirill Konopilanko and Micheal Lmala all scored. 

Mid-Cities 1 @ Austin 4: The Austin Ice Bats took a 4-1 win over the Mid-Cities Stars. Austin added two goals with Austin Alcala and Al Evanyk for a 2-0 lead. In the second period, the Ice Bats added to their lead with a goal from Maddox Hoff for a 3-0 lead. Brendon Zeis scored the lone goal for Mid Cities and Jack Hanson added the fourth goal for Austin. Bryson Frazee made 20 saves in the win.

Milwaukee 2 @ Rochester 3:  The Rochester Grizzlies edged the Milwaukee Power by a final score of 3-2. After a scoreless first period, Milwaukee scored first for a 1-0 lead with Patrick Toomey. Rochester answered back with Zachary Laurila and Spencer Klotz for a 2-1 score. The Grizzlies added to their lead with a goal from Benjamin Tschida for a 3-1 lead. Mac Mudge answered back for the Power for a final of 3-2. 

Mason City 2 @ Alexandria 5: The Alexandria Blizzard topped the Mason City Toros in a 5-2 final score. The Blizzard took a 2-0 lead in the first period with Joe Gronholz and Micheal DeBrito scoring. In the second Mason City answered back to even the game 2-2 with Carl Lelvis III scoring twice. Micheal DeBrito took back the lead with his second of the night, 3-2. In the third period, Joe Gronholz added his second of the game for a 4-2 lead. Justin Wasvick netted an empty net goal to end the game 5-2.

Helena 4 @ Sheridan 6: The Hawks picked up a big win Saturday night against the Helena Bighorns winning by a final score of 6-4. In the 1st, Braden Cunningham, TJ Norris, and Harlan Wojsusik scored for Helena while Joseph Epplin and Ryan McKenna scored for Sheridan. In the 2nd, Makhai Sparks scored for Sheridan and Wojsusik buried another for the Bighorns. In the final frame, Ryan McKenna, and McCaffrey Billings buried another. Patric Loeffler made 55 saves in the win while Aidan Wright and Gabe Swanson split the net for the Bighorns, combining for 33 saves.

Badlands 4 @ Great Falls: 5 (SO): Great Falls scored the lone goal in the shootout to lift his squad past the Sabres. Ben Cremers, Silas Hughes, and Wes Weisenburger all scored in the 1st to put the Americans ahead 4-0. Badlands stormed back with goals from Zach Vockler and Dawson Wirth in the 2nd period and Peyton Wilson and Brady Ridnour in the 3rd period. Silas Hughes had the shootout winner for Great Falls.

Bozeman 1 @ Yellowstone 3: The Yellowstone Quake picked up a 3-1 win over the Bozeman Ice Dogs. The Quake opened up the scoring with Blake Mitchell for a 1-0 lead. Bozeman evened the game 1-1 with a goal from Owen House. Nearing the end of the period, Ben Carison took the lead back for Yellowstone, 2-1. Late in the third the Quake scored with Wyatt O’Donoghue for a 3-1 score.

Butte 2 @ Gillette 5: The Gillette Wild took down the Butte Cobras by a final score 5-2. IN the first the Wild added three words with Ryan Jordan, Johan Palmqvist and Sky Solig. Int he second the Wild added to their lead with Jace Johnson and Adam Severson. In the third period the Cobras got on the board with Carson Steich and Nick Bradshaw for a 5-2 score. Cole Wheaton stopped 26 of the 28 shots he faced.

New Mexico 2 @ TX RoadRunners 3: The Texas RoadRunners edged the New Mexico Ice Wolves, 3-2. New Mexico got on the board in the first period with Jo Kawagishi for a 1-0 lead. In the second, Eitan Geralnik evened up the game 1-1. In the final frame, Jack Herron and Logan Motz scored to get the RoadRunners ahead 3-1. Jaden Stiller added a late goal for the Ice Wolves for a 3-2 final.

Wausau 3 @ Oregon 4 (OT): The Oregon Tradesmen took a 4-3 overtime win against the Wausau Cyclones. The Tradesmen took a 2-0 lead with Amir Velikhanov and Christian Tavare. The Cyclones answered back with Blake Neil in the first period then in the second to even the game with Isaac Baker 2-3. Sam Knight took back the lead for the Tradesmen for a 3-2 score. In the third Gabe Randel even the game 3-3 for the Cyclones to force overtime. In the extra frame, Marcus Mack took the win for the Tradesmen for a 4-3 score.

Willmar 2 @ Granite City 7: The Granite City Lumberjacks added 5 goals in the second period to end up with a 7-2 victory against the Willmar WarHawks. Tucker Skime scored for the Lumberjacks and Micheal Sweetland for the WarHawks to end the first tied 1-1. In the second frame, Tyler Misialek netted the only goal for Willmar while Noah Widman, Brett Robrinson, Tucker Skime, Hayden Johnson and Nolan Widman all scored for the Lumberjacks making it a 6-2 game. In the third Dayne Deanovich added another goal for a 7-2 final score.
